Plot Summary
About Regal Productions’s 'Swiss Family Robinson on Treasure Island' :
The Robinson family sets sail for a distant island, tasked with establishing a new colony for the Governor. Unknown to the others, the father carries a secret: a treasure map entrusted to him by the Governor, promising wealth and a better future if he can find it.
Also aboard is Long John Silver, the ship’s warm and seemingly trustworthy cook who harbors plans of his own.
When a violent storm destroys the ship, the family washes ashore alone. Shaken but determined, the father takes charge, and they begin building a new home from nothing.
Their relief is overwhelming when Long John suddenly reappears alive, but it quickly turns to shock when he discovers the map. What follows next will test the family’s strength, challenge the father’s deepest beliefs, and ultimately force the family to decide what truly matters.
Character Descriptions
PLAY:
Father - Ambitious, adventurous, wants to succeed and be rich. He makes mistakes that affect his family, but he does love them deeply.
Mother - The heart of the family and the one who keeps everyone singing, even when things get hard. She supports her husband every time he has a new, grand idea, but she would prefer a more peaceful life and would be fine if it meant less money.
Julia (18) - responsible oldest daughter, annoys Jim by telling him what to do.
Jim (16) - bold, confident, adventurous, wants to lead but sometimes impulsive. Eager to prove himself.
Margie (14) - intelligent, thoughtful and curious, finds it hard to cope with new things.
Sammy (12) - fearless, sometimes wreckless, and wants to do whatever his big brother does
Liz (11) - gentle, obedient and eager
Emily (9) - energetic, mischievous
Mary Ann (7) - the sweet baby
Captain Long John Silver - The villain. Charming and friendly on the outside, but cold and dangerous underneath.
Skull - Deckhand and pirate. Big, slow, clumsy and loud. Often the target of Bone’s teasing, but dangerous in his own right. He constantly cracks his knuckles.
Bones - Deckhand and pirate. Fast-talking, full of jokes, polite and manipulative, with a mean streak that shows up without warning. He is always cleaning something.
DANCE / GYM:
This year’s dance group will be comprised of 10-12 performers of mixed ages. We would love to include some advanced gymnastics in this year's performance.
REGAL GIRLS CHOIR:
The Regal Girls Choir for 2026-7 will be a very small, exclusive group of 10-15 high level performers of different ages. Choir members will be making a music video, as well as other recordings. They will not performing at the stage production.
